Istituto Marangoni Paris

Istituto Marangoni is the international fashion school par excellence, with four campuses in the most prestigious venues of international fashion. In Milano, the capital of Made in Italy, in Firenze, where fashion, art and tradition meet, in Paris, the home of haute couture, in London, where trends are born and Shanghai, where fashion is the future, Istituto Marangoni is able to offer different visions of the contemporary fashion system to its students.

Istituto Marangoni is a school where the passion for fashion unites distant cultures, different ideas and young people from all over the world. Entering Istituto Marangoni means being part of a very special community, where fashion is the common denominator in all its most cosmopolitan aspects.

Head of School

Alice Peinado is a passionate anthropologist interested in the role that objects play in contemporary consumer society. She is a founding member of the Collectif 6D organisation, which brings together designers, architects and anthropologists to foster responsible and sustainable design approaches. She joined Istituto Marangoni in June 2014 to work as Director of Education at the Paris School. Back to Europe in the 1990s, she worked as a consultant for UNICEF and UNESCO, and joined the International MBA of Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1997 as an Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator. In 2003, she joined L’Ecole Parsons à Paris - Parsons Paris as Chair of the Design Management Department. She has since published articles on the role of anthropology in design and has also extensive experience as a consultant in design anthropology.

Life In Paris

Paris is a world city steeped in history. Its street corners, doorways, church spires and bridges jump out at you from countless romantic films, but the North African influence is radically transforming the Parisian arts scene. It’s a city to walk in rather than charge through on the metro; a city with a heart, around which are strung the arrondissements, each one with its own character, its own flavour.

Films like ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour’, directed by Tunisian-French director Abdedlatif Kechiche, ensure Paris remains at the cultural apex of the world. The city is a wonderful place for any art lover, whether it’s film or painting you love, the works of the 19th Century or of the 21st. Film festivals abound in Paris and in France as a whole (Cannes being the most famous example). Students of fashion who have the good fortune to come here will find themselves living and breathing not just fashion but the spirit behind it, the spirit that permeates all of the arts: the celebration of life.
