YAKO REYES

Inspired by Rachel Whiteread’s “Embankment”, an exhibition in 2005 which explores the universal quality of the cardboard box. This stirred Yako Reyes to go on an exploration of his own journey. His holiday offering in its purest form suggests an all aspects of practicality. To be unaffected by the unnecessary or the chaotic, and to be so disciplined and immerse in a beautifully simplistic state. As the fashion from recent past flaunts too much obvious glamour and nakedness, Yako Reyes Holiday 2013 collection is a cyclical starting point for an intrinsically cool rationale about minimalism, and it derives from the adage about not gilding in excess.

For his Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2013, the designer features sportswear inspired clothing, boxy, minimalist silhouettes with roomy sleeves. There is a palpable sense of futurism, which present clean, non-fussy lines. The lines and angles in the collection made up of rectangular panels in shades of navy blue, moss green and grey. His collection offers a line that understands staple pieces, and items of clothing of elegant, simple and no fuss separates. Tailored button ups are paired with bold single blend garments, a crisp simple dress, and a jumpsuit that aides for a comfortable long distance travel. A subtle but strong mix of accommodating colors mixed with pattern gives that extra character as the quintessential line for Holiday time.
