Sarah Maria Schmidt is a sustainable fashion designer, strategist and material innovation expert based in Berlin. Since 2008 she has been extensively working in different areas within the fashion industry and realised through first hand experience the urgent need to design in more responsible, sustainable and transparent ways. She holds MA in Sustainability in Fashion from Akademie Mode & Design and a joint Double Degree with BA in Design/ Fashion Design from University of Applied Arts Schneeberg and Bachelor of Culture and Arts in Fashion Design from University of Applied Sciences HAMK in Finland.

Sarah has worked for a wide range of companies in Germany, The Netherlands and Australia. She has thereby gained experience from fast fashion to haute couture and from photo shoots, showrooms to runway shows at Paris Fashion Week. She has worked as a freelance designer for Beneficial Design Institute.

Her interest in fashion is mainly practical, putting material experimentation, sustainability and transparency as core values. On one hand she is often guided by serendipity in her design language, shaped by movement, water and colour. With her keen sense for deep and academic research on the other hand Sarah shapes vision for systemic change.

Her collections have been exhibited in Berlin during Fashion Week as well as at German Fashion Council.
