London-based brand Victor X Wang was launched by Victor Wang in 2018, it has since steadily secured a reputation for its unique pattern cutting technique in reimagined thought-provoking silhouettes. The moody sensibility that itself throughout the collections was inspired from mix of historical background and sub-cultural references.

With a futuristic view of youth culture and the borderline of sexuality, Victor has since established an emphasis on interpreting masculinity and femininity blends aesthetic references, by breaking the limits of original garment construction to create the unique looks that transcend elegance and softness.

NOVA

The inspiration for VII SS2021 comes from the film the colour of pomegranate. This season, VII brings a new interpretation to the spiritual world of a gleeman Sayat Nova who lived in Armenia in the 18th century.

The refection of classical art and faith have always been the motivations for the design innovation. VII continues its exploration of classical culture, combining with its iconic colour collisions and structural silhouettes, which echo the ethnic colour palette and peculiar compositions in the film.

The understanding of the film was converted as fashion language in this collection in the perspective of the designer. The fragmented and reorganised structure and patterns; the combination of romantic and elegant jacquard fabric and commonly-used fabric; the laurel leaves symbolising praise and respect and the unique embossed three-dimensional angel print, which added a free aesthetic and otherworldly sensation to the collection.

The concept of the film, 'A poet may die, but not his muse’ is also reflected in the delicate but ruined detail-addressing and a blending of different fabrics in this collection, which is ritualistic but fitted to daily dressing.
