THE PORCELAIN COLLECTION

The graduate collection by Ruby Fung. Inspired by Porcelain.
The origin of porcelain is China, and has developed in the West, this has some how reflects the history of Hong Kong, my hometown, which it's motherland is China, but it once was a british colony for hundred years.
This metaphor has then grounded my colour scheme - blue and white. I have combined the porcelain plates from both countries to create my prints, and by studying and using the technique of chinese lantern - honeycomb or western christmas decoration to be part of my decoration of the design. I keep the silhouette really simple with some of my print designs that are like a border going through the body, which representa the outline of the calabash to illustrate the illusion of the women's body as well as the Chinese feeling.
