Tingyue Jiang is a Chinese fashion designer based in New York City.
What I like about fashion is the experience of fashion. I start a collection that inspired by my own experience. Experience makes our daily life issue be involved into a deepness. My experience gives me a different view to cloth, textile and how people wear cloth. I don’t need to intend to be deep, because during the whole design process I build up a story behind, which compose of the social influence and my thinking.
I hope to give the people who look at my cloth and wear my cloth feel engaged in this cloth. when they feel bored, they can touch and play the texture and cloth structure details. I think cloth can offer to people elegance, cuteness and joy. I always intrigued by the women they know how to make happiness and have the experience of how to overcome some hardest moment in the life. That’s where these strong elegance and cuteness from, because it suffered from the pain.
I focus on finding a different technique to create new shapes. Shape is so strong and full of imagination. It can be a media to show a elegance and cuteness by a strong but indirect way. How to reshape the element of our daily clothing that is always a challenge. Pattern cutting and draping are just skills. Through the process of pattern making, draping and the result is a reshaped womenswear. Even textile can be a way to reshape the silhouette. Shape is always hided behind this textile. How we use textile decide how shape will be.
