Stephanie Oliver is a clothing and print designer based in London. She recently exhibited her graduate womenswear collection, 'The White Cloth Makes Her Invisible', at the Ravensbourne 2012 BA Degree show. Her work draws inspiration from a number of areas, but the most consistent themes throughout have been Hindu culture in India and Bali, and iconic singers such as Jimi Hendrix and Brett Anderson of Suede. Her graduate collection was influenced by an exhibition of Balinese dance and drama in the 1930s, and the research gradually became more focused on the characteristics of masks worn for performance. Recognisable themes throughout Stephanie's design work are a vibrant colour palette, heavily detailed prints (which are hand-drawn or painted and then digitally edited) and the intention that garments should be beautiful and comfortable to wear simultaneously. Stephanie has worked as an intern, assisting with design development, at high street company Illustrated People and emerging high-end womenswear label Xsenia & Olya.
