In a rapidly evolving world where the meaning of home undergoes profound shifts, my project ventures into its intricate duality. Traditionally, home embodies comfort, security, and familiarity—a refuge from the external chaos. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted this narrative, morphing home into a realm of confinement and restriction for many, including myself. To capture this dual essence, I crafted a collection reflecting both facets. Drawing inspiration from the contrasting personal experiences associated with home, each garment in the collection embodies versatility—a quality that mirrors the multifaceted essence of home itself. Every garment in this collection is designed to offer the illusion of multiple layers, while maintaining the simplicity of a single piece. A distinctive element of the collection lies in its unique color scheme: the juxtaposition of contrasting colors between the front and back of each garment. This choice symbolizes the duality of the concept of home—wherein the familiar meaning may conceal underlying complexities and contradictions. Through this collection, I provoke contemplation on the evolving notion of home. By merging fashion and personal identity within the home's context, my project initiates dialogues on the nuanced experiences associated with home. This visual narrative prompts viewers to reflect on the interplay between comfort and discomfort, security and restriction, familiarity and uncertainty—ultimately revealing the paradoxical nature of home in the modern world.
