David Chum is a professionally trained artist and self-taught designer based in Boston, MA. He holds a B.F.A. from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, and his artwork has been shown in commercial, alternative, and on-line galleries locally and internationally, and is included in collections across the country.

At an extremely early age, David showed a talent for drawing, sketching Disney-inspired ballgowns. In junior high, he took a Home Economics class and learned how to sew a pillow. In high school, he designed costumes for the theater company competitively. David has also incorporated hand-made costumes into many of his fine art pieces.

In 2008, he decided to pursue his own clothing line. He bought some pattern drafting textbooks and got to work. In 2009 David launched his line, Selahdor, from his Arlington atelier. His architectural silhouettes and focus on sleek, modern tailoring garnered the label press and buyer attention from its very first collection.

In 2011, David was among the top 20 finalists for the ninth season of the hit reality show, Project Runway. Selahdor was also selected as the first recipient of the Emerging Designer Fund, a Boston-based organization which provides funding and professional services to superlative fashion talent in the New England area.
