Fashion with a conscience
The brand Ninoshka is the brainchild of designer Ninoshka Alvares-Delaney, which focuses on sustainable fashion. All her products are made of natural and organic material, working closely with handloom weavers from across India. She employs dyeing techniques such as tie and dye, bandhani and shibori, and printing methods such as Ajrakh and Kalamkari. Most embroidery done on garments is done by rural Indian artisans.
Ninoshka's products aim to create social improvement and environment awareness. Ninoshka was awarded the best design from the India Handloom brand for her Indo-western menswear shirts in 2016. She has also been awarded the Goan Women entrepreneur of the year by the British Deputy High Commission.
