I have been constantly seeking for the best way to express my ideas as a woman who came alone to New York from Korea, who goes through an endless cycle of joy, loneliness, failures, excitements and barriers on a daily basis. Although I believe that there are countless opportunities and possibilities ahead of me, I could not overlook the bitter-sweet process of getting to the destination of my own journey as a designer. Instead of avoiding the pains and looking for shortcuts, I wanted to fully embrace and celebrate the “journey” that I am going through and express such appreciation through my designs. As a person who started fashion from a self-set goal of making people seen and heard regardless of who they are, I once again wanted to understand and appreciate the beauty of one’s stories that have been, are being and will be made throughout their own journey. For this collection, I wanted to start from my personal take on the inspiration being boy scout’s uniform and their adventurous spirits, and manage to make it speak for many others by letting them relate to my own way of celebrating their journeys.
