MPMP _ Magnetosphere Projecting and Monitoring Program was founded in 2011 by Katrin Reinfurt (graduated at the University of Applied Arts Vienna / Masterclass of Raf Simons) and has its headquarters in the C-Space gallery in Cao Changdi, one of the most promising new art districts in Beijing. MPMP is a conceptual fashion and art project, that has produced various artworks, fashion collections and installations worldwide throughout the last two years following different themes.
MPMP is a vision inspired by an utopian theory from an imaginary journey to the magnetic mountain of Magnitogorsk. Its conceptual roots of a very futuristic and modern approach within a natural and spiritual context are expressed in uncomplicated fashion items. Setting the bar in technical and self developed fabrics, the workmanship is a main focus. Hand made prints are silver, glow-in-the-dark and the making is unconventional. The fabrics used are specially developed high-tech materials, while the main shapes remain simple, futuristic and clean.
Based in China, the leading country in mass production, MPMP creates products that look as if they came from high-tech industries, but are in fact handmade limited editions, produced in its own studio and local workshops in Beijing. The energy put into every single piece comes from a passion for the unseen, rather then from industrial machines stitching together prefabricated materials.

The trust in modernism, the shift of our reality towards a world where only science can create a sustainable future, it continues to exemplifies that science and nature can lead us towards love.

MPMP _ INSTANT HEAVEN / SLEEPING IN ETERNITY

We are striving towards silence into the air. Air in this case stands as a metaphor for sleep.
MPMP imagines sleep as a way of gaining power, escaping and being safe in silence, hidden in our dreams;
sleep as a state of infinity and eternity, where time and space become irrelevant notions, where we experience silence as a consensus in all senses to their fullest; nothing else other than the sound of our breath.

The MPMP SS 2014 is a sleepwear and homewear collection in silk, incorporated with a lot of handcrafted details and special manual printing methods. Each piece is unique, but all related to the style of the universe. Besides sleepwear,
MPMP also created 50 limited edition artist pillows made with special artworks and handmade silk prints.

Large, transparent bubbles are used as a part of the artworks and the installation, they drift freely in total balance and
float through a heavenly landscape. Bubbles are defined by air, they are fragile and clear, isolating the inside from the outside world with delicate lightness. There is a clear division - you can only be inside or outside and either side could control the other in any way. It brings total shelter, safety and silence. Here, the bubbles act as symbols of merriment; they stand for wishes, dreams and fantasy. They are self-contained worlds of illusions, places of senses and emotions.
Instant Heaven installation consists of five hanging, inflated PVC spheres, all between 1.5 and 2 meter in diameter.
Each sphere contains its own “sleeping universe” depicting different sceneries inside of them.
The idea behind having the installations contained inside the spheres is isolation, distance and unreachable dreams.
