My work places texture and material development at the forefront of my practice. Using recycled and sustainable materials, I like to create and play with textures, and use their form to dictate silhouette on the body. I am interested in how people see the world, and how that can influence their experience with clothes. During my jersey project, I used pintucks to represent a trait of visual impairment where some cannot see straight lines, and that led to a big enveloping dress. I combine all of this with specific techniques, and expand them, leading them into new directions, one being pintucking. I push craft and the ethos of craft into my work, as it serves as a way to slow down, and I hope that this will inspire others to make less, but better.
Striving to push the boundaries of knitwear is one of the ways I try to be more sustainable, as it is much less wasteful than cut and sew fabrication.
