marina bosch’s concept is inspired by André Breton’s quote about Frida Kahlo’s art “A ribbon around a bomb”, taking it out of context and exploring it’s symbolism and visual metaphor: the marriage of opposites, the duality, the contradictions.

“My design philosophy is based on telling stories by projecting my own fantasies, obsessions and concerns through alter egos; focusing on individualism and expressing the different identities that can form a person's mind.”

NOT YOUR FUCKING ANGEL EXPLORES A TEENAGE GIRL'S INNER WORLD; THE DESIRE FOR FREEDOM, THE AWARENESS OF HER OWN BODY AND SEXUALITY AS A WEAPON, THE EMOTIONAL IMBALANCE, THE 'LOSS OF INNOCENCE', THE REBELLIOUSNESS.
THESE CONCEPTS ARE PERSONIFIED IN AN ALTER EGO, HALFWAY BETWEEN A MILITANT CHARACTER AND AN ANGEL; SWEET AND PERVERSE, TERRIFYING AND ADORABLE, TAKING AS REFERENCE THE GIRLS INSIDE THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF PETRA COLLINS AND MAXIME IMBERT, AND FILMS SUCH AS 'THE VIRGIN SUICIDES', 'HEAVENLY CREATURES' AND 'STOKER'.
THE COLLECTION WANTS, AS WELL, TO REFLECT ON THE CONFUSION OF SOCIETY REGARDING THE CONTRAST BETWEEN A PERSON'S ACTIONS AND WAY OF THINKING WITH THEIR AESTHETICS OR APPEARANCE, BASED ON PREJUDICES TOWARDS WHAT IS FEMENINE AND CHILDISH.
