Maru Lopez makes jewelry pieces inspired on the extraordinary in the ordinary. Historian turned Fashion Designer turned Jeweler. Puerto Rico to New York to Florence. Her collections are inspired by those everyday things that must take for granted or forget but that are full of memories of moments past and stories lived.

From fabric to metal to resin to found objects and vintage finds, her works are playful colorful one of a kind pieces.

California Dreaming

I lived in a city by a river, a beautiful magnificent city. Old and majestic but void of colors. Buildings of beige and green, terracotta tile roofs and piazza's of grey statutes. The colors I craved exploded as I closed my eyes and imagined the fuchsias and greens of my tropical island, the blues of the sea and the yellows of the bright Sun. Infusing resin with pigments of color I created stones in the colors I imagined and setting them in pieces which recreate with playfulness the antique jewelry in the museums around Italy from which they were inspired.
