A tinkling. Or rather, the tinkling of hundreds of fingers, the personification of the whispers of the Janas.
The collection stems from an oral Sardinian mythological tale drawn from Camille Cireddu's island roots. Its protagonists are the Janas, little fairies who can be both evil and benevolent, combining the image of the fairy with the one of the witch. They are said to be mainly dressed in red, the colour that inspired the nail polish hue of the signature finger of the capsule collection.
In her tale, the Janas of Camille's imagination collect the fingers of evil-doers as trophies to adorn their finery. When you’ll put them on, you’ll discover that they are more like pieces of armour. Camille has created thongs, corsets, harnesses and bags that we wear over our clothes, like protective shells.
Both daring and verging on the erotic, they are inspired by the magical power of the evil fairies and evoke a seductive power. They are also designed to announce the presence of an individual through the joyful clicks and tinkles produced by the porcelain fingers.
You may wonder why the fingers? Aka the "middle fingers," Camille has chosen to accumulate them . It's a vulgar symbol, a residue of a patriarchal semantics, whose repetition in feminist actions the artist has observed. The fairies in her collection seize it to reclaim power. Empowerment comes through attire: it translates our inner strength. Because if "clothes don't make the man," they certainly reflect the soul.
