Turet Knuefermann grew up on both sides of the world. In 1979 her parents moved to New Zealand from Germany. Every two years they would go back and spend a year in Europe.
Turet gained in depth knowledge of classical art history references, architecture, and
iconography which she still draws on to inform her design thinking.
Turet discovered an appreciation for garment construction and textiles through her mother’s love of European fashion. She learnt to sew from her mother, who made all of Turet’s clothes when she was growing up.
Turet’s effortless mix of exuberance with tradition comes from the refined values of Europe with the free and pragmatic life lived in New Zealand.
Turet’s garments have a subversiveness and sensuality combined with effortlessness functionality.
Turet designs for women, not girls chasing fast ironic fashion. Her desire is to give women the confidence to be who they really are. With Knuefermann, women can forget about what they are wearing and just be themselves. Turet’s signature style—sexy, body conscious silhouettes— is championed by her customers.
