Using Precious metals and textiles I create striking mixed media jewellery for people with a unique flair!
I aim to create work which is artistic by design and which is tactile and striking. I am inspired by bold colours and repetitive patterns found in nature and hope to create a sense of fluidity and freedom within my jewellery.
Using textiles alongside precious metals provides the jewellery with an infusion of colour and the contrast between soft and hard materials creates a finished piece which has an organic feel. I enjoy the fragile nature of the textiles as it creates a bold contrast between the materials and can challenge the wearer in terms of what they define as a precious piece of jewellery. Linear and intricate forms in fine wire are used to create a subtle beauty within each piece and allows the jewellery to move fluidly with the wearers own movements.
The making process plays an integral part in the development of the designs and I work instinctively with tools and materials to create work full of movement and energy. I enjoy the challenge of working with non-traditional jewellery materials and find the different techniques used in working with them allows more freedom within the design.
