As a designer, I have a deep desire to create an exciting and dynamic silhouette. The garments will have intelligence and depth. A simplistic, structured form will be meaningful to the wearer as the garments instil and enhance confidence and empowerment. Through the creation of this empowerment, a cocooning effect of knitwear will be used to enhance and transform the body. These ideas will be reflected to produce dynamic, modern and edgy knitwear.
Just before graduating I was awarded the Pringle knitwear award.

Pringle of Scotland ‘Fishing for heritage’

‘Fishing for heritage’ uses the idea that people are searching for heritage and history. I went back to the roots of fishing heritage within Scotland, but looking at it from a different angle. I used the strong imagery of fishing wives, with wind swept hair and a romantic raw edge. Also developing the knitted techniques and texture’s from the ocean and the coast line. This created organic, natural garments which symbolised the movement of the wind in the sails.
