My mother was a sculptor and my father a break-dancer, and this formative awareness of the connection between artistic and physical responses has encourage me to express myself through fashion design. I began my design process by experimenting with the idea of cathartic design responses, playing with garment manipulation, which developed into surrealist creative pattern cutting. I connected this towards further research into illusions and natural cathartic processes, particularly drawn from the Wixarika colony in Mexico who used plants and hallucinogenic medicine to help protect them, and this helped to amplify the colours, textures and hallucinogenic moods within my collection aesthetic.
