PYAAR
Love, when it is received, creates safe spaces. Safe spaces nurture creativity.

I find this love in my grandfather's coats, my mother’s scarves, my grandmother’s saris, my father’s jumpers, and my friend's t-shirt.

This love can also be found in nature, in colour and gradation, in the textures and patterns that exist.

Inspired by this, PYAAR upcycles materials through indigenous craft practices in a multitude of colours to make exchangeable clothing that can be shared by people to express their love for each other.
Through the ancient wisdom of handloom weaving, iro iro shapes tomorrow with pyaar (love).

Inspired by the relationships that inspire creativity the collection is divided into 4 parts. Each part reflecting the evolution of love.

FAMILIARITY
leads to connection
The first part of the collection features familiar shapes in un-familiar textures. A drop shoulder coat paired with short, a dress with high slits showcasing a school blue colour beneath instead of the body and a pair of kurta and pyjama accompanied by a top made with re-construction of rejected pieces with iro iro textiles.

The garments in this part are designed to evoke nostalgia. White T-shirt, banyan and banana leaf some objects we have all grown up around become motifs evoking a feeling of connection, comfort and making the garment a safe space we can carry with ourselves.

and be VULNERABLE
To emulate a readiness for vulnerability we have deconstructed the sari and designed our version – a modular sari. This sari is ready to break down and find itself a-new by detaching and attaching elements of it. Pallu becomes a scarf interchangeable in favor of a different texture/colour at any point in the life of the sari. The pleated bottom becomes a wrap skirt, something we can choose to wear depending on the mood of the day.

Here we design garments that fall into shapes wherever our zero-waste draping techniques took us. Accepting the flow of life the design is not trying to be anyone anymore but accepts its fullness and enoughness.
