Even though this project was created as a final project in conclusion of the Pattern Making Lab, for which we were asked to design two outfits that represented us (Me, Myself & I), I still wanted to share it with you, to show my growth since the beginning of my journey. The project started with researching two distinct elements that could represent me: the Middle Ages, as a nod to the region I grew up in, which is strongly linked to this period, and the 2000s, the period in which I was born. I found the idea of this pastiche very interesting and stimulating, so I further developed it in my designs. The final product is a femme outfit inspired by the figure of the princess (PopStar) and a masc one referencing the figure of the knight (specifically Saint George). The final presentation didn’t require a photo shoot, but I still wanted to bring my creations to life, choosing a different narrative world for the photos: the princess, locked up in her castle, discovers the soul of a warrior within herself, and after having conquered her castle, leaving behind her old clothes, she embraces her knight essence.
