Gi by Giselle

Originally from south of Brazil, Giselle Effting remembers collecting
seashells with her mother and sister in the beautiful beaches of Santa
Catarina to make necklaces and bracelets. Little did she know, this
would become her calling in life.
At the age of 15, she began her decade long career as an international
model. She lived in 9 different countries and had the opportunity to be
exposed to the works of creative directors, fashion stylists and highend
jewelry brands across 4 continents. After settling in Hong Kong
for a great period of her life, she discovered her passion for jewelry.
Fascinated by how gemstones are in essence a result of millions of
moments in nature captured in a single crystal, Giselle harnessed the
foundations of her knowledge as a jewelry artist at the Gemological
Institute of America.
Upon graduation, she began working as a jewelry designer at a longstanding
Hong Kong high end jeweler. A milestone project of hers
while there was to develop a collection in pure gold inspired by Chinese
culture, which triggered her to learn more about jewelry making.
She headed to Florence where she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree majoring in jewelry at the prestigious Alchimia Contemporary
Jewelry School.
Body is a recurring theme in Giselle’s life and she naturally gravitated
towards a collection inspired by unique parts of the body, to create
wearable art pieces. She chose to use titanium and diamonds in this
collection due to its lightness and uniqueness as a manmade material
composed of more than 16 different minerals.
Every piece in this collection is a connection to what is inside of us,
our memories, emotions and perceptions of the world, reminding the
wearer of their own strength. In essence, jewelry is beautiful but it only
has a true meaning when it is created with passion and is tied to a special
memory for the wearer. This is the feeling Giselle hopes to evoke
through her designs.
