ELISABETH CLAES

Elisabeth Claes tells visual stories that cannot be told in words.
Her decision to study fashion was the result of her fascination with the body. An attraction that does not only express itself in fashion. After highschool, Elisabeth studied dramatic art for a year at the Institute Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp. The theatrical and narrative dimension of dramatic art still has an influence on the work of the young designer. Whether through wearable sculptures, clothing, performances or illustrations, Elisabeth Claes’ work distils a poetic, calm and sober atmosphere. Her other sources of inspiration are words, colour graduations, nature and the sacred.
Elisabeth Claes has just finished her third year of study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent.
