DANZ

DANZ is a sustainable multidisciplinary Swiss fashion and textile studio based in Glarus. DANZ was founded in 2021 by Mara Danz, After working in Paris for Maison Margiela, among others, she returned to the mountains to visualise her own visions of fashion.
She has since realised various projects, like collections, shows, performances, textile works, Exhibitions, showrooms.
DANZ's speciality are the colourful, handmade screen-printed fabrics, these are inspired by Swiss textile history. DANZ rummages through the archives and searches for suitable objects, once found, they are processed and reinterpreted.
Driven by curiosity, the design processes are often playful and intuitive and require a lot of room for experimentation. Working with diverse materials such as ceramics, cotton wool, metal, sheep's wool or fabrics, Mara Danz searches for idiosyncrasies to express herself as a fashion and textile designer. DANZ always tries to bring together different methods or materials, some of which seem to be complementary. In the resulting intersection, I find the scope for designs that are multi-layered in their reading. For example, the surface design in combination of haptics, material and colour concepts shows a combination of different disciplines such as collage, weaving, printing techniques and their manufacturing techniques.
