DANSK

The Danish clothing brand DANSK has since 2002 been doing its best to fill out the white spots on the Scandinavian fashion map. The two sisters Ma-lou and Malene Sofie Westendahl founded their brand DANSK in a creative urge to add spontaneity, consistency and diversity to the current fashion scene in 2002, which felt needed in revitalization and challenge, and this resulted in DANSK clothes with irresistible identities, strong coherence and timeless design. As a contrast to other fashionistas and awakening trends, specific historic periods or male or female muses are not what inspire Malene Sofie, who is the sister in charge of the design. On the contrary, she finds a fountain of possibilities in everyday emotion and situations that lead her towards surprising aesthetic solutions.

Since then there has been major developments for the brand with the opening of a new store located on the hip street of Istedgade 64, Vesterbro.
Further more DANSK has expanded their collection in 2011 with a Basic Collection consisting of different coloured fabrics for women, which gives the basic look a fun twist. And at the same time it offers unisex jersey styles such as t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts and sweatpants for men. Accessories has also become an “add on” to DANSK collection consisting of leather goods like wallets, small and medium clutches, ipad covers and computer covers.

All in all when Malene Sofie creates single pieces they seem to blossom and get a life of their own, when paired with each other: It is very much the different fabrics, styles and pieces that creates the DANSK look.
