‘Guepe’ (French for bug) draws metallic colours and surface textures from a secret world that lies under the microscope, focusing on a southern French wasp; the ‘cuckoo’. I collaborated with an entomologist (Dr Ken Walker) from the Melbourne museum, to generate these beautiful and detailed close-up images that were the soul source of inspiration for this collection. The collection has explored in depth experimental research into textile manipulation, and recreating these unique textures in an innovative way.
