The project seeks to question and respond to the traumatic experience of subculture, particularly as it relates to queerness and its neo-masculinity. The violent affect and effect of the Bear/d will play central in this performative fashion study, as will the marginalized resultant crisis of identity. This exploration of manhood, desire and encounter will be informed by the abjection and aesthetics of Leigh Bowery, Viennese Actionism and “tribal” rites of passage.
