Visual sensations of movement are produced through repetition of shape, texture and pattern. The spiraling effect of a staircase creates relations with both organic and scientific structures. Inspired by the work of geometric chronophotographer Etienne-Jules Marey, I have explored the relationship between mans anatomy and locomotion. These photographic images captured a frozen moment of movement using frenetic repetition of the human form. Digital textile technologies then allow the two dimensional images to be applied directly to the dressmaking stand.
