REWRITING
The process of revising and rewriting texts represents a mental and discursive task that entails reworking one's thoughts, starting from the eraser, in order to clarify and rephrase the text. This not only involves assessing and enhancing the writing but, more importantly, reshaping knowledge and constructing new ideas.
As defined by the RAE:
[1] tr. Rewriting what has already been written, incorporating changes.
[2] tr. Rewriting something, providing it with a fresh interpretation.
To quote Pedro Almodóvar, we can perceive the skin we inhabit as a canvas that strives to closely mimic our essence and anatomical form. Yet, it also mirrors who we are, how we express ourselves, and how we communicate. This creates a pseudo-image that aspires to faithfully represent the depths of our souls, where form and substance are intrinsically interconnected. Wrinkles bear the imprints of our smiles and tears, while furrows trace the contours of our psychological landscape.
When does the preposition "pseudo" hold greater significance? When neither bone nor flesh, which shape us, truly encapsulates our essence?
Consequently, the skin we reside in often feels foreign, detached from our genuine "form," and we carry it as a daily burden.
Is there a word that encapsulates the act of "assessing and improving" what lies beneath? How can we transform our "knowledge and construct new perspectives" about ourselves?
CAN WE REWRITE OUR OWN SELVES?
