In today’s high-tech world, everyone is seen being face-down, holding their electronic devices whilst walking along the street, oblivi- ously no attention to what is happening around them. Even when they walk pass the alleys, they do not notice the graffiti on the wall. This collection is inspired by graffiti. A lot might think graffiti is a kind of disturbance. It might also be seen as vandalism, and is being constantly removed by the people who are against it. However, are their actions meaningless even graffitists continuing their work despite the risk of being arrested? Has anyone ever listened and noticed the message the artists were trying to convey? Graffiti changes the world. In New York, the lower class youth wanted to express their dissatisfaction towards the society. The Cold War caused Germany to be split into East and West, and the east side being totalitarian, and the west side being dream chasing. Thierry Noir, a hotheaded French teenager, went to the West Germany in 1982, he started to draw the graffiti on the wall. In Hong Kong, Tsang Tsou Choi claimed to be the ‘Kowloon Emperor,’ who used the Chinese calligraphy to create his graffiti. Is graffiti a kind of art or an act of crime? It might be used to bring out the unsatisfactory towards the society before, but it is now turning our world a better place to live. Every graffiti is telling a different story from a different part of world.
