ARMISTICE seeks to capture the moment of when contradictory elements form momentary truce. Inspired by Kinetic Art, the use of material guides form which in turn, determines both physical and illusionary movement. The otherwise conventional front view of each look is met with a deconstructed back or side view that rely on the fabric’s drape, weight and manipulation to determine the achievement of the desired form. This is made possible by various techniques such as slashing, weighted draping and weaving.

The textures and solid primary colours of each look pay homage to one of Kineticism’s pioneers - Alexander Calder. Made infamous by his sculptural mobiles, it’s as if Calder cemented the notion that life’s oxymoronic nature is inevitable - yet this should be seen as the primary pathway of absolute balance and harmony.

Each look is to represent an ‘aluminium sheet’ hung by the steel that is the entire collection - colourful in solidarity, and though contradictory in both aesthetical and functional aspects of a conventional collection; each one relies on each other to achieve armistice.
