MANONIK, a project by Yoshiyuki Minami, is a series of spontaneous explorations of hand-made textiles. It is also economic and cultural experiments to explore sustainability, micro-production and an alternative perspective in our relationship with textile objects. It champions craftsmanship through traditional methods and processes that are often undervalued in an era of anonymous production and relentless consumption. A collection of one-off objects is released as they become ready. Every cloth is handmade, then formed into garments at the Studio, humbly situated in Greenpoint, in the northern edge of Brooklyn, New York. The core values include: handmade, fairness, transparency, genderless, limitation, sustainability, and local (wherever possible).
