Atelier Kikala

Atelier Kikala is a fashion brand that offers customers a varied type of womens clothing. It was founded in September 2012 by Commercial Photo Agency “Kikala Studio”, managed by Creative Director Lado Bokuchava. At the begininning, the focus of the brand was to create clothing for Kikala Studio’s shoots, but after a while, we began to realise the clothing became very consumable. All products from this brand are handmade. You can see the traces on the clothes, textures, all the craving and cuts are done by hand. You can also see dyed and painted parts on the pieces that are also handmade. Inspiration for Collection Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 was Space. The main idea of creating this collection was not an alien but planet earth itself. As a living thing, reproductive, evolutionary, an incessantly progressive, the being that creates and destroys: volcanoes, dried deserts, geysers, ocean, air, metal, lava, rock, crystal; all the materials that are not considered to be alive, but have their own characters and an ability to regenerate. The inspiration for the collection stems from these elements, black monumental silhouettes with rough, crude, stone shapes. Each colour in the collection has its own special silhouette and texture. Manually draped copper colour admonishes hot, melting, metal; the explosion of a volcano. Synthesis of all this with minimalist severe forms, creates an ethereal image. A white leather model with small holes representing the stars. Manually corrugated neoprene coats, jackets and skirts that recall chilled lava. White colour adds height to these forms and associates them with air and space. This collection displays the personality of a human being who can feel every living thing that is not considered to be alive.
