Glasgow born Rachel McMillan graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 2012 and has since launched her fashion label ‘RACHEL MCMILLAN’.

Since its conception ‘RACHEL MCMILLAN’ has become a recognised name in Scottish Fashion. RACHEL MCMILLAN was nominated for Young Designer of the year within 6 months of the company's launch at the Scottish Fashion Awards 2014. The brand also exhibited its most recent collection at London Fashion Week, had her fashion illustrations and collages hand picked to be shown at the National Galleries and has recently been selected to feature in Vogue Italia.

RACHEL MCMILLAN is dedicated to sustaining Scottish Fashion and manufacturing. All products are designed and manufactured in Scotland working with local businesses and supporting students and creatives within the industry.

RACHEL MCMILLAN’s ‘Paint me Digital’ collection is her most recent contribution to the industry.

Rachel’s collection reveals her fascination with the creative process in the contemporary fashion industry. She was overwhelmed by expectation set by society as a whole to constantly move forward, stay connected and perform. Looking to those who approached these pressures in early modernism by looking inward to the individual, Rachel was inspired by the art of the DADA movements and the Surrealist investigations into the unconscious. She began her print designs by creating a range of large automatic ink and paint compositions. She then engaged with technology, photographing her pieces and digitally editing them to betray their original nature. Her printed fabric is testament to Rachel’s own awakening to her tenuous position within a complex system of interdependent forces, human and mechanical. Her collection is an honest admission of both power and defeat.
