Alice Butunoi presents a unique collection of evocative jewelry pieces that tap into the free spiritedness and nostalgia of a bygone bohemian life. Her work is voluptuous and poetic, intricate and distinct, lithe and radiant.
Alice’s eclectic techniques reflect the diverse composition of her pieces. She crochets, weaves and knits with chains, silver wire and silk thread, beads with semiprecious stones and Swarovski crystals, and incorporates fox fur, horse hair and leather in her beautiful designs. To enhance the poetic message of her offerings Alice created her own product identity as well as jewelry display cases. As an architect and graphic designer she taps into the universal rules that govern and guide the visual arts, and reapplies them in new and innovative ways in this stunning collection of one of a kind or limited edition pieces.
Alice is a lifelong student of architecture, design, illustration and visual media. She was born in Romania and grew up in the capital of Bucharest, earning a Master’s degree in Architecture and Planning from the School of Architecture and Urbanism, Bucharest, Romania.
After moving to the United States in 1992, she studied illustration at the Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design, Denver, CO. She worked as both a visual artist and graphic designer for a multidisciplinary architectural firm in Boulder, CO as well as an art director for the Miles Brand advertising agency in Denver.
