Duly Equipped

Yenting Chen settled in Toronto in early 2011, having arrived in Vancouver from Taiwan the previous summer. A student of the fashion design program at Taipei's Shih-Chien University, his graduation collection received the award for Best Menswear Collection (as chosen by guest judge Hiroko Koshino, an acclaimed Japanese designer). Although he draws inspiration from countless aspects of contemporary culture and design, Chen is especially in thrall to the romance and tradition of London's Savile Row — the foremost bastion of impeccably constructed menswear, as well as an oasis of manners and personalized service in an increasingly coarse society. The majority of Duly Equipped's Fall 2012 collection — the label's first — was hand-tailored by Chen, with fine fabrics sourced locally and from the U.K.
