Vivian Graf graduated from Parsons the new School for Design in New York, where she interned and worked for several New Yorker labels like Haute Hippie, VPL by Victoria Bartlett and Doo.ri. Her curiosity for knitwear existed from an early age but what really caught her fascination was the domestic knitting machine, on which she learned to knit on during her studies at Parsons. She then further deepened her knowledge of knitting at the prestigious Knit-1 studio in Brighton, UK. She became aware of the restrictions but also of the infinite potential that knitting offers and the initial spark became a true love for knitwear. Her love became her passion and her job.
Her process is very instinctive and starts with experimenting with different yarns and techniques on the machine, from where she develops her first samples.
After studying and working in New York, living and working in Berlin she moved back to her roots in Switzerland where she founded her namesake knitwear label. She finds the inspiration for her knitwear in interesting three dimensional surfaces used in art and architecture that is why her pieces always have a beautiful tactile look and are rarely just plain jersey knit.

Vivian Graf stands for unique pieces of knitwear that add an individual and modern touch to every basic outfit. The exploration of the art of knitting and the use of precious Italian yarn in a contemporary way are important design elements. The pieces are created for women who value craftsmanship and want to live a certain style rather than follow a trend.
