Designed by Eleanor Ford, SOLLIS Jewellery is one of the most exciting Australian accessory brands to emerge in recent years. The ethos behind SOLLIS is the exploration of the relationship between craft and fashion. Traditional techniques are employed to form contemporary fashion pieces, which reflect modern trends, while also conveying a timeless classicism. Eleanor deftly blends patterns and textures to give her jewellery a tactile and touchable quality. Her dedication to craft comes from a love for the creative process; each piece is beautifully and painstakingly designed.
After studying BA Jewellery Design at Middlesex University followed by a MA in Textiles at Goldsmiths College, Eleanor began work for the widely creative Erickson Beamon in London. Since then she has also worked for Kirt Holmes and has designed many collections for Swarovski in Paris. Since relocating to Sydney in 2009 she has also completed design projects for Gorman, Megan Park and Sophie Kyron.
Sollis Jewellery, launched in 2011, has gone from strength to strength. The current collection entitled ‘ZARI’ represents an indulgence in texture and ornamentation. Inspired by brocade weaving, tribal jewellery and lavish interior furnishings, the collection is a kaleidoscope of patterns and materials. Wood and metal beads are woven with silky threads into gold and black nickel chains. Combined with chunky semi-‐precious stones and long brightly coloured tassels, the collection has an eclectic, decadent feel. The jewellery is beautifully crafted and imbued with a tactile quality instantly making you want to touch and wear each piece.
