Before studying fashion design, Xénia Laffely achieved a Bachelor in history of Art and modern French. In 2009, she started her BA in Geneva at the University of Art and Design. During her studies, she specialised in menswear and prints and created very narrative collections. After she graduated, she did an internship with Agi&Sam in London. She also won the Excellence prize of the Hans Wilsdorf fondation in Geneva and have been selected as one of the 10 finalists of the fashion festival of Hyères.

You won’t have any other icon than me and you’ll eat your father

Bearded faces. the father in a classic suit and the religious man in a ceremonial dress. Both of them haunted me along this collection’s process. I borrowed some attributes from each one to build a third figure on their ashes ; my own icon, the unworthy son, rebellious, flamboyant. My emancipation’s witness.
I designed him a new skin. Beards have become prints, interspersed with embroidery of othodox cassocks and woolen men suits. Then, they have been cut out as classical suits lines. I colored the scarves, leggings and jackets with stabilo, to bring him to life.
A graphic and sentimental character, wacky and unpredictable appeared. My own icon.
