Victoria Hannah Guy is a menswear designer who recently created her first collection, based around her own construction of fabrics. This collection show-cased at London's Graduate Fashion Week, she studied at Ravensbourne College in London and has an interest in creating fabrics and the process behind innovating fabrics through techniques like needle punch. Victoria has interned at Jigsaw Menswear when it re-launched it's brand, she has also worked for Julia Knight a manager of 6 European Designers.

Armament

Basic human nature demands us to protect and preserve ourselves, we have come to wear a level of armour to defend ourselves day to day from the conditions of the world. Human protection comes in different forms, the idea of hidden identities and protective clothing are what directed the exploration of this subject.

Fabrics and composites have been cultivated to shield us. The use of carbon fibre and woven glass throughout the collection demonstrates this. Needle punching these fabrics means their nature changes, with the breakdown of their structure they become increasingly fragile till is disintegrates. The same glass that can stop bullets, is shown to be vulnerable through my collection.

This collection plays on our fragility as humans, the armourment that we draw on to protect us and the possibility of how easy it is to manipulate and destroy that armour.
