Tonje Plur is a womenswear designer graduated from Oslo National Academy of The Arts with an MA in 2017. She also has an advanced craft certificate in dressmaking and background in handicraft, incorporating knitting and adorning textile surfaces in her designs. Her new collection, ”Life as it happens”, examines youth culture in Sápmi, the North Norway region traditionally inhabited by the Sami people. The inspiration for ”Life as it happens” is based upon her personal experiences from the region, as well as screen shots from her friends’ social media accounts. In ”Life as it happens,” Tonje combines social references with a variety of craft work and designs, making the collection a visual reaction to the present time.
