London based Turkish designer Tuğcan Dökmen launched her WomensWear label TĞCN in 2016 after graduating from MA Fashion WomensWear at Royal College of Art.
Dökmen began to specialize in different colour and texture combinations, print and silhouette during her BA studies in Fashion Print at Central Saint Martins.
Through the years, she explored print design and pattern cutting while working at BLESS Paris, Diane von Furstenberg (New York), Chalayan (London), GILES (London) and Beymen (Istanbul).
Her MA graduate collection Sherbet Nymphs explored the Turkish men’s favorite clothing item -unfashionable lined polo t-shirts- through stripping layers off to soften and freshen up the use of lines in textile and turn them into more delicate looks. She also explored traditional bead working technics further by modernising them in her own aesthetic.
She has been further exploring her Sherbet Nymphs Collection in her SS17 collection under her label TĞCN. She exhibited her SS17 Collection at BFC Designers Showroom during London Fashion Week and later also in Paris Fashion Week.
Her SS17 collectiont supports the female body and invites all women to use the colourful transparency as a way to show their diferent body types; do not hide, show and embrace.
As a womenswear designer coming from a print background, Tuğcan developed her own sense of colour, use of fabric and embroidery/beadworking. She enjoys engineering prints and forms around the body and introducing their technical information into pattern cutting. Advancing the initial concept idea by constantly sampling, trying out new, old and interdisciplinary technics to develop a unique way of working is essential for her process of creating a contemporary feel. In her work, Tuğcan is interested in effortless and fresh beauty; playful and modern elegance and innovative, progressive vision.
She carries on working in London under her label TĞCN.
In 2012, she was shortlisted for Swarovski Sponsorship.
In October 2015, she has been selected as one of the CFDA+ finalists.
