The Hilda Necklace is made from black faux leather cords, rhodium-plated brass components, and matte black metal endings. Faux leather is used in place of real leather as part of the label's efforts to minimise the use of animal parts in its designs. This material is delicate and care must be taken not to rub it against a hard surface. Common hardware are embellished with sturdy spikes to give statement centrepieces. Any surface irregularity on the metal pieces is intentionally left as it is to preserve the rugged nature of the hardware it was made from.
This piece belongs to a collection titled ‘Fortification’. The series was inspired by warriors, strength and courage. A story of power within fragility is weaved, bringing together spikes, everyday hardware and faux leather cords inspired by the Shibari form. With the spirit of the warrior, the spikes symbolise resistance and self-protection; while the common hardware display the finding of strength in the ordinary. Dipped in gold and rhodium, everyday hardware are transformed into strong, luxurious statement pieces.
