Modern, clean design made with thoughtfully sourced materials and impressive craftsmanship. Inspired by an eclectic mix- vintage furniture, muscle cars, the everyday street style of Brooklynites– owner Shana Luther designs each bag to speak for itself without extra add-ons or unnecessary hardware. Always a stickler for quality, Shana sources hardy yet sumptuous leathers to withstand many seasons of carry. Luxurious yet tough, Shana’s designs are meant to be worn.

Shana designs fresh shapes that appeal to the fashionably independent woman. The Shana Luther woman is hip to the current fashion scene but likes to play by her own rules and let her originality shine. Laid- back, hip, modern Brooklyn women will always be a source of inspiration for Shana.

Shana often overseas the local manufacturing process to ensure utmost quality and often documents the steps involved to give her clients a peek into production. Transparency is key and we believe you should know where your bag comes from. Most components of Shana Luther Handbags are locally sourced, with the entire collection made in small batches by a manufacturer in Brooklyn, NY or NYC’s garment district. Shana is proud to be an American Made brand.

Brooklyn-based designer Shana Luther creates handbags that display her love of classic yet modern styles, as well as her belief in American manufacturing: All Shana Luther Handbags are made locally.

Shana got her start in 1999, when she graduated from Pratt Institute and began designing her own bags under the label SML Bags. A one-woman show, she was involved in all aspects of the creative process—from sketches to final sewing of her leather and fabric bags.By 2012, Shana longed to design bags that went beyond what she could produce on her own. Inspired, she re-launched the label as Shana Luther Handbags, continuing to showcase her signature designs. Soon after their debut, numerous fashion magazines and blogs, such as Teen Vogue and The Pursuit of Style, featured the label, with Shana Luther Handbags becoming a finalist in Martha Stewart’s American Made Awards in 2013. In addition to that, Shana was chosen by American Express to participate in their OPEN Rising Stars of Fashion competition at Magic Market Week in Las Vegas in August 2014.A Pennsylvania native, Shana has called Brooklyn home since 1995. She lives there happily with her husband, cofounder of Houses in Motion, an animation studio, and their charming new puppy, Jackie.
