Ryan Mercer

Born in Oshawa, an automotive city outside of Toronto, Canada.
Graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto with a BA in fashion design.
Completed an intensive fashion illustration course at Parsons Paris.
Graduated with an MA in Womenswear from the Royal College of Art

I started college thinking I would be an animator or illustrator, but after a few years of art and design based education I found myself studying fashion. I think I was attracted to the initial research process and all of the subsequent steps which lead to a commercial product capable of life on the streets. I like that clothing design begins with a creative process and ends with a tangible product mean't to be worn and enjoyed.
