Nicholas Oakwell London Couture – Design Assistant October 2013 – Present
Whilst being at Nicholas Oakwell I have assisted on all areas of design and creative development. I have gained more intense pattern cutting skills whilst working alongside the atelier creating and alliterating patterns. My main role is to work on the Couture & RTW collections, researching, designing and presenting ideas to the Creative Director and Assistant Designer. Whilst being at Oakwell I have become a strong and innovative member of the team offering my commercial and high end knowledge into design specifications, colour and fabrication choices. This year I have worked on the launch of the first RTW collection from the label, offering my ideas which have been prominent in the lineup.

I relocated to China in July 2013 one week after graduating from university. Here I became a strong individual of my team. I was specifically given my clients in which I was responsible to design a 35 piece collection which I would present to each one. My clients were Sandro (Paris), Villa (Denmark), Object (Denmark) Maje (Paris). I adapted quickly and strongly to each of my clients customer needs. I offered a selection of well thought through designs, details and finishes as well as new innovative ideas showing capability to the client. The collection was bought in pieces from the buyers for AW 2013. I was asked to call a weekly meeting with designers from different clients to give my feedback and advice on changes that I thought should be made to different collections that was being offered. This was for clients America Today, Abercrombie & Fitch and ONLY. I was able to show a capability of determination and ambition within this company and I was often congratulated on my knowledge of the commercial market and the understanding of what people want to wear. I have become experienced with costing and price which is now automatically thought about when designing. Within this company I was designing helping with a turnover of over $30 million Dollars a year, which were from my clients.
