PENUMBRA is a shadow, but it is more than that. The word Penumbra describes the spectrum of shadows between the brightest to the darkest point. We are all Penumbra and our lives are Penumbra. We are not always at our best but not always at our lowest. Our lives are happening in the in between- in the grey areas that are harder to define.

As life itself, PENUMBA jewelry are also inconclusive- they are swaying between art jewelry to fashion. The jewelry are ragged, stained and represent declared imperfection.

We show ourselves to the world through fashion; this is how we express who we are and who we want to be. PENUMBRA jewelry carry moments within them; moments we hate, moments we love, moments that excite us and moments that scare us- it carries all the imperfection that the modern world has taught us to be so frightened of. We are life. We are PENUMBRA.

PENUMBRA was created in 2013 by the designer Amit Tourgeman. The jewelry are made of oxidized silver, brass and gemstones by classic techniques , create a combination between contemporary fashion and "timeless" art.

Latest Collection

Human Bridges 2015

PENUMBRA’s ‘Human Bridges’ line that was launched recently is the third collection for the brand. It came to life through the designer's inner search for balance in life and the inspiration to connect the different inner components of an identity together. The main motif that led to the entire collection drew inspiration from bridges, as a method of connecting worlds and identities.
The collection is made out of raw brass by various sculpting techniques, classical jewelry making and combining natural black stones such as Onyx, Ayolite and black Zircons.
The overall look correlates with worldwide trends such as neck collars and raw brass elements, while keeping the integrity of the brand and the collection in a way that a fascinating connection is created between art jewelry and fashion. Every item stands on its own but is also meant to allow a combination of different items, creating a very up to date look as well as a fashion statement.
The collection is made out of 12 designs, where between the ones who stand out you can find a neck collar necklace made of black Ayolite stones and a tarnished brass pendant as well as a carved brass bracelet with a “bridge” that flags over the base of the bracelet and set with a small black zircon. Prices for 'Human Bridges' collection range between 110-200$.
