Regnum Lapideum was conceived in 2010 by Silas Liew, a designer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His work is subtly artisanal and presents an ethnocentric outlook at times. The manual rendering of textiles and materials imbue the pieces with their own tactile distinction. Intrinsically craft-made, every piece attempts to explore menswear tailoring at its most essential.
The term Regnum Lapideum is taken from Carl Linnaeus' Systema Naturae in reference to the science of taxonomy; the practice of classification and nomenclature.

Vestigia SS2012

An exploration of obsolete forms and the notion of vestigiality, a dialogue between Science and Nature; nurturing an inevitable tension between the worlds of past and future- a collision of ideologies.

This collection examines the idea of evolution and natural selection; but in a conceptual sense. Traditional tailoring techniques are reconstituted with novel renditions, but always recalling a remnant form- it’s former resolve. The clothes are about ease and balance; lightweight and minimal.
