DROWN

THE PROJECT CONCERNES THE PROBLEM OF DISABILITY. Anna Drobna, who was born without her left forearm.
Is the fact that Anna never had a hand is a lack to her? Although she does not know life with two hands, she adapts to "reality" - she wears a prosthesis.

"Do I really need to have two hands? I will never know what it is like to have 2 real hands, "says Anna. Is the sense of difference born only when confronted with "complete" people? Does the awareness of the absence of something that has never been possesed create a different perspective?

"... and she feels something that does not exist, is in a physical sense an empty place, there is nothing that could give any sensation. Something that doesn't exist hurts me. Phantom. Phantom pain. "a quote from “Bieguni” by Olga Tokarczuk - Nobel Prize winner in the field of literature for 2018.
Symbolic is the photograph in which the right hand, "complete" and covered by sleeve is juxtaposed with the left - with a defect, exposed by the lack of a sleeve, equipped with a prosthesis. Aggressive demonstration of absence - the dividing line: "prosthesis & the natural color of the hand" - is a painful combination of corporeality and artificiality, "prank" and the unpredictability of nature with requirements, conventions, a template. It exposes weakness and is a challenge. Camouflages a physical defect, while provoking a reaction.
